Well, surprise to all of us, the parking lot at the Pomfert Club was overfilled. The was “no space at the inn” even though it was not Christmas. It seems that there were teachers in a meeting who were there for breakfast and lunch upstairs. Oh well, there were still 14 brave souls that were able to find parking even up on 5thstreet. THANK YOU brave souls. We did not have a speaker but we did have a great lunch and a great amount of conversation and ideas flowed. But first, we will not hold a meeting next week, August 28th so plan on attending September 4th. We are still meeting in the library and probably will into early September. Janet and Walt gave us a full report on the successful recent Palmer Days with the Easton Opioid Awareness Task Force: thank you to all who attended and helped. Quick reminder, Monday Aug. 26 at 8:30 AM plan to attend the grand opening of the Kolbe Academy, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem. We provided them a grant to help with their opening and wear your Kiwanis shirts. DUES ARE DUE. Barb gave an update on the Rose Sale and provided posters and forms. If you need any posters or order forms, let her know. A reminder again of the Dedication of the Playground, Friday Aug 23, 11:15AM. Walt is enthused about the 5 SLP’s staring up soon. The IU20 Kids Christmas Party is Dec. 4th: Bill needs help in the planning and implementing of this big event. Janet is wondering if we would like to do a holiday gathering sometime after Thanksgiving. Maybe an evening event at the Southmore Clubhouse and bring our significant others along. Let Janet know your thoughts. Neil again thanked us all for the donations for the COLLEEN’S CREW for the walk for diabetes coming in September. He is still accepting donations either online, checks or cash in person. Short news but lots of good information. Read it twice and it will seem like it was a longer meeting. See you September 4th.
